new media art

Carol Ashton Interiors embraces the engagement of new technologies with traditional art processes, demonstrating that digital technology is a contemporary medium of the visual arts.

Technology and art have had a long and fruitful relationship; without the invention of putting paint in tubes the painter could not have ventured outside for long periods to paint, there would have been no impressionist period. David Hockney has shared his iPad as medium with his exhibition at the Royal Academy of Art showing his iPad drawings.

In her role as Digital Literacy Specialist at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), Carol’s personal art journey as an artist has been influenced by the rich history LACMA has had supporting art and technology with their Art + Tech Lab.

Employing the artistic potential of technology is our signature. Our designs are executed through fine art applications and sophisticated processes to create elegant and intricate artwork for the home and office. Due to the nature of new media art, the images and patterns can be duplicated throughout your home, creating a theme to anchor your interior design.

All of our art begins with an acrylic painting on canvas which is then further explored using new media applications and digitized to museum quality standards using archival ink. Utilizing digital processes allows for rich color saturation and detail in the final product.

Embracing the mid-modern design history prevalent in Palm Springs, we focus on design for living to create functional art that enhances our indoor and outdoor spaces.
